Being, hear.

I had an inspiring meeting in London today with an amazing charity called Auditory Verbal Uk.

They support families with children born with no or little hearing and guide them to hearing and learning how to speak words and communicate.

Of course we take our bodies for granted when they work. Most of us can hear, see, taste, feel and smell. And move around on our legs.

It was humbling to hear the difference this charity makes to these children and parents.

The earlier the intervention on those first few years the better the outcome at primary and secondary school.

I learned today that hearing is so much more than just communication of words, but also processing and conveying feelings and emotions, creating connections with family and friends.

Mindfulness is super helpful for these families which is why Master Owl went on an outing to the big smoke today.

I am going to donate books to the families they work with and make myself available for zoom calls with them, reading my picture book story and introducing mindfulness.

I am reminded today that happiness comes as a by-product of service and kindness to others.

It’s in the giving that we truly recieve.

If you know anyone with very young, deaf or hearing impaired children, please check out this amazing charity.

They get no government grants - it’s all funded by donations and trusts. It should of course be funded by the health service, but that’s for a new government to tackle 🤞

So good to have a day away from Devon and see some of the world and meet new people.

Thank you to the people at AV UK for the wonderful work you are doing to support families. 🙏
